The Official Don't Trip Hat

The original, made by Free & Easy since 2017. Six-panel, unstructured, 100% cotton twill, strapback with brass closure, signature Don't Trip embroidery.

Worn by LeBron James and Mac Miller. Available in over 75 colors, sold only at freeandeasy.com.

The Don't Trip Story

The Don't Trip Hat is made by Free & Easy, an independent streetwear brand founded in Los Angeles in 2016 by Kevin Circosta. The hat joined the line in 2017: a six-panel unstructured cap in 100% cotton twill with a curvable flat brim, a brass strapback closure, and the Don't Trip logo embroidered on the front. It has been made the same way since, and it is still $40.

In May 2018, LeBron James wore a black Don't Trip Hat to his postgame press conference after the Cavaliers swept the Raptors. Six colorways sold out overnight, and we spent the next morning starting new production to catch up (TMZ, Bleacher Report).

In August 2018, Mac Miller wore the rust Don't Trip hat for his NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert, now one of the most-watched Tiny Desks ever at over 149 million views. The rust colorway has been the one people ask for ever since.

The hat now comes in more than 75 colors and a handful of styles: the original unstructured strapback, the washed hat, the corduroy snapback, the embroidered trucker, and the dad hat. All of them are designed by Free & Easy and sold directly at freeandeasy.com. Don't trip.

Only if it came from Free & Easy. Every official hat has the Free & Easy tag inside, with the yin-yang on the back. The hat is sold at freeandeasy.com and a few independent shops we wholesale to, nowhere else online.

Every official Don't Trip hat has the Free & Easy tag sewn inside: the Free & Easy logo in white on red, with "One Size Fits All," "Born in Los Angeles," freeandeasy.com and @freeandeasy below it, and the Free & Easy yin-yang on the back. No tag, or a different tag, means it isn't ours.

  • The embroidery is the Free & Easy Don't Trip script, not a printed or heat-pressed logo.
  • The strap closes with a brass buckle.
  • The crown is unstructured and six-panel; it packs flat.
  • The price is $40. Listings well above or below that are resale or knockoffs.
  • Listings titled "Mac Miller Don't Trip Hat" are not from us. We have never sold a hat under his name.

The Don't Trip hat is sold directly by Free & Easy at freeandeasy.com, and in a small number of independent shops we wholesale to. We do not sell it through any other online retailer. If you find it on a marketplace, a print-on-demand site, or in a listing that uses another name in the title, it did not come from us.
